Plan on supporting businesses joining international trade approved
The PM has approved a plan to support the business community in effective participation in international trade as Viet Nam has become a member of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG or Vienna Convention 1980).
The plan is aimed at communicating fundamental contents and crucial regulations of the Convention for businesses operating in imports and exports, lawyers, judges, arbitrators and lecturers on trade laws and international trade at universities as well as officials at related State management agencies to improve their awareness and knowledge in addressing international-level contracts and ensure rights and benefits for Vietnamese businesses.
The purpose of the CISG is to provide a modern, uniform and fair regime for contracts on the international sale of goods. Thus, the CISG contributes significantly to introducing certainty in commercial exchanges and decreasing transaction costs.
The CISG governs contracts for the international sales of goods between private businesses, excluding sales to consumers and sales of services, as well as sales of certain specified types of goods.
